This call for health systems impact assessments (HSIAs) on all global health projects originated during a meeting at the 2008 Global Health Council Conference (though we are certainly not the first to make this call; see here for example). Global health professionals from the WHO, universities, and other organizations discussed the idea, and agreed to formalize a call. Since that time, more than 30 individuals from over 15 countries have expressed interest in this movement. Here is a summary of our activities:
-We have finished a draft of a Call to Action paper, calling for HSIAs on all global health activities, and will submit it for publication in an academic journal soon.
-We have organized a team to review and summarize the evidence of the impact that past health programs have had on health systems.
Please keep us updated on the Call.

Thanks for stopping by, Anke. I have included a link to your organization on the sidebar, and hope that we find ways to collaborate in the future.
Hi. Your website would make a more compelling argument if it did not take ten clicks to figure out what “HSIA” stands for. I have still not found the answer, and I have visited all the top-level pages on the site!
Thanks for the feedback, Tom. HSIA stands for “health system impact assessment” (sometimes ghsia, for global health system impact assessment). I’ll clarify in the blog. Thanks for stopping by!
